Windows IDE for DeepSeek Harness

AICodeWrite is a Windows desktop with Chat view and IDE view: code editor, agent chat, git, Remote SSH, plugins, and a loopback Harness runtime — with installer and auto-updates.

Layouts

Chat view and IDE view

Start in Chat for a full-width agent experience with project/branch switching and a right-side Changes, Terminal, Files, and Browser rail. Switch to IDE when you want explorer, editor tabs, git, and terminal — without leaving the window.

  • Chat | IDE in the title bar, project + branch chip, View menu (Ctrl+Shift+1 / 2)
  • Stay in Chat while opening folders; jump to IDE when opening files or diffs
  • Resizable Agent panel — your last layout restores on launch

Editor

Code editor + Harness agent

Open workspaces, edit in the IDE, and chat with the agent in the same window — explorer, terminal, git, and Harness tools without a browser tab.

  • Branded Electron shell with installer and auto-update
  • Loopback Harness runtime (127.0.0.1:3080); optional Remote SSH from the activity bar
  • Plugin Market, thinking levels, and Auto Memory by default

Agent

A harness that can actually change code

DeepSeek Harness runs on loopback on your PC. The agent reads the workspace, edits files, searches, and shells out — you approve privileged tools before they run.

Agent — edit + tools Ask — answers only Plan — design first Debug — hunt failures Multitask — queue prompts

Plan

Plans open as markdown documents

Plan mode writes a .plan.md under .aicodewrite/plans, opens it with Preview and Edit, and puts Build under the editor so you review before the agent implements — the file stays after Build.

  • Discuss and refine the plan in chat without starting implementation
  • Edit the markdown yourself, then Build when you are ready
  • Same workspace snapshot / revert flow as other agent turns

Remote

SSH profiles, SFTP, and approved remote exec

The Remote activity opens SSH connections to your servers: save profiles, confirm host keys, browse and transfer files over SFTP with live transfer speed, and approve remote shell commands from the agent — Harness itself never leaves your machine.

  • Host-key confirmation before first connect
  • SFTP panel for upload / download next to local explorer
  • Remote exec waits for the same approval UX as local shell tools

Terminal & git

Run commands, review the diff

A local PTY sits under the editor. Commit message and button sit above the graph. The header shows your local branch; Source Control lists remotes and inline diffs before you keep a change.

  • Ctrl+` toggles the terminal
  • Local branch chip · remotes in SCM · commit · stash
  • Agent shell tools run without flashing console windows

Diffs

See what the agent changed

Working-tree diffs stay next to the explorer. Keep or discard the patch after you read it — the agent does not get a silent commit.

Undo

Revert a whole turn

Before each turn runs, AICodeWrite snapshots the workspace. When a change is not what you wanted, revert the turn and every file it touched goes back: edits are restored from the snapshot, and files the turn created are removed. Letting the agent run is never a one-way door.

  • Confirm dialog lists exactly which files are created, modified, or deleted
  • Revert files only, or revert files and drop the turn from the chat
  • Open editors reload from disk; deleted files close their tabs

Keyboard first

Command palette for the whole app

Open Folder, Search in Files, Source Control, Models, Plugins, Check for Updates — type a few letters and hit Enter.

Ctrl+S Save
Ctrl+` Terminal
Ctrl+O Open folder
Ctrl+Enter Send to agent
Ctrl+, Settings

Plugins

Plugin Market on the activity bar

Search the catalog with instant cache and background refresh. Install Harness plugins into the local web profile — GitHub-hosted packages work when Git is installed.

Models & thinking

Pick a model and reasoning level

Chat model picker in the agent bar, Models panel for favorites and custom providers, and Thinking level in Settings (Auto / Off / Low / High / Max).

Chat model picker

Switch models per session from the agent input bar.

Models panel

Favorites, custom providers, and apply as session default.

Thinking level

Auto schedules low/high/max from tool history via dsh-thinking-levels.

Settings

API key and thinking level in one place

Paste your DeepSeek API key once, choose Auto reasoning by default, and check for updates — when a build is ready you choose Later or Download (Ctrl+,).

Local-first

Harness on loopback. Remote SSH is optional.

DeepSeek Harness binds to 127.0.0.1:3080 — there is no hosted agent cloud and no reason to expose the process to the LAN. Optional Remote SSH is outbound from your PC to servers you choose; it does not move the agent runtime off-device.

  • API key stored locally in app settings
  • Privileged local edits, shell tools, and remote exec wait for approval
  • Auto-update asks Later or Download — nothing downloads until you confirm
